Dec. 14, 2017: Dec. 2nd was a memorable day for Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi. On that Annual day 9 Secular Carmel members were vested with the Scapular thus entering into the Novitiate stage of formation.
The Solemn thanksgiving mass began at 5.30 p.m. It was presided over by Secular Carmel, St. Joseph Secular unit Spiritual Assistant Rev. Fr. Ligoury Crasta together with Parish Priest Fr. Shabas Crasta, Asst. Priest Fr. Ivan D’souza and Fr. Cyprian Fernandes. Fr. Ligoury preached an inspiring homily. Soon after the homily vestation rite was held. Under the guidance of Fr. Ivan D’souza, Spiritual Assistant those candidates who completed their Aspirancy were presented with the Bible and the Constitution of the OCDs as well vested with the Scapular. Scapulars, the sign of the motherly protection of Mary were distributed to the faithful after the mass.
The cultural programe began at 7 p.m. Secular members led the prayer song. Fr. Ligoury Crasta was the chief guest of the function while Fr. Pius James & Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues were the guests of honour.
Fr. Ivan D’souza welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Gretta Lobo compered the programme. Mrs. Gracy Fernandes read out the annual report. There were a row of entertainment programmes like dances, songs, skit by the secular members. Secular Carmel President Mrs. Sylvia Mascarenhas rendered the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with a fellowship meal.
