On the foothills of Carmel in Mangalore stands Bajjodi, a valley uninhabited till 1978, belonging to St. Sebastian Parish, Bendur. St. Vincent de Paul Society’s strenuous efforts to resettle some poor Catholic families in this valley, in the land donated by St. Antony’s Ashram, creates the ambiance for a new Parish.
Since a couple of years, the Parish priest and the faithful of Bendur envisaged a new parish in Bajjodi. The Bishop of Mangalore invited the Carmelites living in the vicinity to meet the pastoral needs of circa 320 families and to construct a new church. Eventually when the Church is built; this Parish will be entrusted to the care of the Carmelites of the Karnataka Goa Province.
