June 30, 2017: The Annual feast of the Vailankanni Ward was celebrated on 17th June 2017 with a thanksgiving mass at 5.30 p.m. Parish Priest Fr. Shabas was the main celebrant. Asst. Priest Fr. Ivan D’souza concelebrated the Eucharist. Soon after the mass a short programe was organized in the parish hall. The occasion was graced by the presence of Parish clergy, Vice President, Mr. Joseph Mascarenhas, Secretary Mrs. Irene Pinto PPC and leaders of different wards.
They were accorded with typical kokanni traditional way of “Pan pod ani udok" (Beetle leaves and water) by the elderly couple of the ward. The programe began with a prayer song. Thereafter a short stage programe was held. Mr. Joseph Mascarenhas welcomed all the dignitaries. Mrs. Jenifer Fernandes presented the brief annual report of the ward activities. Master Cliyon D’silva was felicitated for his outstanding performance in the sports field as well as all the elderly members of the ward were honoured with a bouquet and a gift. Sports day winners, luck family and those families who were regular for meeting were given the gifts.
Parish priest in his address congratulated the ward members for the well organized programme. He also sought the support and cooperation of the members to the ward leader for the betterment of the ward. A good number of entertainment programme and games were conducted to make all happy. Ms. Sharal D’souza and Master Aston Mascarenhas compered the programe, while Mr. Deepak Albquerque proposed the vote of thanks. The programe concluded with the delicious dinner prepared by the ward members.
