Mangalore, Jan 4, 2012 : A fund raising programme, ‘Carmel Fantasy-2012’, was organized on Sunday January 1 to pool funds for the construction of the new church building for Infant Mary Church at Bajjodi here. The programme, held at Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill in the city, was held between 4 and 9 pm.
Fr Deepak Tauro, OCD, inaugurated the programme. He offered prayers towards the success of the programme, besides blessing the site. Louis Lobo, Dany Fernandes, Lancy Mascarenhas of Lancy Constructions, and Gurkars of the wards under the new church were present at the inaugural.
Variety of games, cultural programmes, and auction, were conducted as part of the fund raising initiative. Tasty food items were also on offer. The people participated in the events enthusiastically.
The Superior and community members of the shrine lent their wholehearted support for the success of the event.
Fr Melwyn D’Cunha, who is in-charge of the new church, welcomed. He also proposed thanks at the end. Aloysius D’Souza compered the programme.
