April 16th, 2017: The Easter Celebration here at Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi commenced at 7 p.m. on Saturday 15-April-2017 with the blessing of the new fire by Fr. Ivan D’souza. The Easter Candle was lit and carried to the Altar calling on people to walk in the light of Risen Christ. The congregation lit candles signifying the victory of light over darkness and there by enlightenment. Fr. Ivan D’souza sang the Exultes - the Easter Hymn. Fr. Shabas was the main Celebrant. Fr. Peter D’souza & Fr. Ivan D’souza concelebrated the Eucharist. Seven readings from the Sacred Scriptures gave a glimpse of the salvation story of Israel and mankind in general. As the Gloria resounded in the air the image of Risen Jesus got unveiled.
Fr. Ivan preaching on the occasion called the faithful to believe in the resurrection of Jesus which is essential to one’s salvation. The joy and experience of Risen Jesus cannot be kept without sharing it with others. Later water was blessed and baptismal vows were renewed. Faithful who had gathered in great number wished each other after the mass and with the peace of Jesus Risen returned home.
