April 10, 2022 : Palm Sunday that marks the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, where his disciples gave him a warm welcome by waving palm leaves, was celebrated today with utmost piety and devotion. Through this Palm Sunday we begin the Holy Week of the Liturgical calendar. The devotees marched in a procession carrying palm leaves which were earlier blessed by Rev. Fr Rudolph Raj Pinto at Opus Spiritus Sancti convent. On reaching the church, the passion of the Lord was read devotedly. Thereafter, Fr. Rudolph Pinto briefed the significance of the sufferings of Jesus in the salvation history. Parish Priest Fr. Ivan Dsouza, Fr. Patrick Lobo, Fr. Rayan Pinto, Fr. Antony Shera, Fr. Ashwin Cardoza, Fr. Reevan Cutinha were also present for the celebration.

Palm Sunday is also known as the Passion Sunday. Palm Sunday is celebrated in two parts. In the first part of the service, we remember the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem acclaimed by all the people. The procession started from Bethany, the village of Lazarus, Martha and Mary, and ended in the Temple of Jerusalem. During the second part of the service in the church, the people read and reflect the passion and death of Jesus.
