April,2: Palm Sunday that marks the arrival of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, where the people gave him a warm welcome by waving palm leaves, was celebrated today with utmost piety and devotion. Through this Palm Sunday we begin the Holy Week of the Liturgical calendar. The devotees marched in a procession carrying palm leaves which were earlier blessed by Rev. Fr Rudolph Raj Pinto at Opus Spiritus Sancti convent. On reaching the Church, the Passion of the Lord was read devotedly. Thereafter, Fr. Rudolph Pinto briefed the significance of sufferings of Jesus in the salvation history. Parish Priest Fr. Ivan Dsouza, Fr. Patrick Lobo, Fr. Rayan Pinto were also present for the celebration.

Palm Sunday is also known as the Passion Sunday. The Palm Sunday is celebrated in two parts. The first part of the service is the procession in which we remember the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem acclaimed by all the people wherein the procession started from Bethany, the village of Lazarus, Martha and Mary, and ended in the Temple of Jerusalem. During the second part of the service in the Church, through the reading of the Passion of Christ and homily, the people reflect the Passion and Death of Jesus. The Service ended around 9am. Large number of Parishioners were present for the procession and service and went home with blessed palms.
